We will have a few food trucks available daily.  Participants may of course also bring their own meals.  We have no available kitchen facilities, so all cooking must be done on portable camp stoves.  (No fires at campsites)

Camping

We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity for our guests to stay the night on our grounds both Friday and Saturday night.  We believe that this will not only save our attendants on travel costs, but help to increase fellowship and the sharing of ideas and resources.  Due to the nature of our space, we are only able to offer primitive camping accommodations.  Attendees will have access to a ground space large enough for a family size tent.

For Vendors

For many Homesteading families, making goods to sell or trade is a big part of the life, and we want to give our local homesteaders and attendees the opportunity to display their wares and make sales during the weekend.  We will be using our historic Big Red Tobacco Barn and potentially the adjoining lawn space as a bazaar during the weekend, where vendors may display their wares for sale.
The market space will be available from 9am-9:00pm on Saturday, September 17th. We respectfully ask that our vendor booths are staffed without closure between noon and 4:00 pm. Before and after this time is optional.  Eastern Time.

Vendor Spaces are approximately 12x12 feet

Why a Homesteading Conference?

Homesteading is a sometimes difficult concept to put fully to words, but in its most basic iteration, Homesteading is a lifestyle focused on self sufficiency and subsistence agricultural.  For most homesteaders, this means growing ones own food and raising ones own meat, food preservation, employing the principals of permaculture, repairing ones own tools, equipment, clothing and other items, and practicing good stewardship of the land. At Homeplace on Green River, we recognize that these are the very values the local culture is built upon and when we had the opportunity to partner with the wonderful Homestead Preparedness Network to host and co-produce an event focused on education, we felt like it was a match made in Heaven.  We know that the homesteading community, especially amongst the younger generation is strong and getting stronger.  While the movement has been gathering speed for several years, the pandemic most assuredly added fuel to the fire and we feel there has never been a better time to get involved in a big way with homesteading education.  We want to help people help themselves while practicing environmental conservation and raising healthy families! We believe that this event could be the first of many to come and we could not be more excited to roll up our sleeves and get started offering these dynamic programs.  We hope you will join us in this journey and take advantage of all there is to learn!
