Membership Matters! A message from the President of our Board: Billy Joe Fudge
Rural American culture, like many of our country’s great, foundational institutions and societal building blocks, is under attack. Each day I encounter dozens of people and invariably a significant percentage of them will express concern about a number of issues. A few concerns are: the demise of civil discourse, order in our educational systems, physical health and emotional wellbeing of our young people, lack of understanding of the natural world of which we are a part, and no understanding of and appreciation for the Agricultural industry that feeds us!
Your Homeplace on Green River was formed at the turn of the century “…to preserve and promote rural American culture…” and for the past 22 years has been doing that very thing! I have been at the helm, serving as president for most of that time and have, along with our volunteer Board of Directors, worked tirelessly to pursue that mission.
However, since Homeplace is not financially supported by either local, state or federal government, we are appealing to you, our friends and neighbors, for help. We can win this fight in Kentucky and beyond but not without your support. Just a few nickels a day from each of you will empower Homeplace to stand against those forces which are seeking to destroy our way of life! Together we will prevail!
At Homeplace, we rely on our continuous fundraising efforts to support the work we do here. Our donors are the backbone of our organization, playing a crucial role in our ongoing growth and development, while supporting the cost of our day to day operations. Our operational expenses are varied and include:
Maintaining our campus with regular landscaping from a local company, keeping the grounds beautiful for visitors to enjoy.
Employing a full time Director.
We support our local 4H group by providing them access to our grounds and facilities for their learning events.
To keep our own events accessible and affordable for our area families, we depend on regular sponsorships from local businesses.
We are tasked with maintaining our many historic buildings and have plans to further renovate and improve them so they may be used by generations to come.
Developing new and expanded programming such as music events and a kid's camp.
Annual Membership provides a solid foundation we can rely on when we are creating programming. It also means we can spend less time fundraising for individual events, and more time making those events even better! Becoming a private or corporate member today offers the opportunity to contribute to our journey and make a significant difference in our community.
